Adelaide – A Sports Update

Team Adelaide.

Some good and bad news.

The Bad News:

LIV Golf has sold out General Admission Day 2 and Day 3, the tickets that 9 of our party wanted, and which I hadn’t purchased for reasons to be explained.

LIV Golf has also told me that I can’t “re-sell” Gallery Club hospitality. Not sure how they assumed a Tour group was going to operate but seems I’m not able to purchase in bulk.

Obviously a spanner in our works, and they may have told me this in November when I first made contact with Senior VP Ticketing.

I do apologise. I’m quite annoyed.

The Good News:

We have options for resolution.

We can get everyone in to see at least one day of LIV Golf – the Friday.

It would mean re-jigging the Tour and replacing a day of [Hospitality / General Admission] at LIV with a Saturday at the Races or an extra round of golf.

It would also mean replacing Gallery Club with Private Chalet – more on it shortly.

Basically the Tour re-jig would mean:

  • One less day at LIV.
  • One day at the Races – or another round of golf, if preferred.
  • Accom at Glenelg first, Links Lady Bay second.

There would still be:

  • Two rounds of golf.
  • Long Lunch at McLaren Vale.
  • The same tariff – a bit less for the Manly Seven.

I’ll get into the Whys and Hows as follows.

For the moment a New Draft Itinerary would look like:

Thursday

8am: Arrive Airport

Midday: Play Glenelg or Kooyonga

Stay: Stamford Glenelg.

Friday

11am: LIV Golf Adelaide – Hospitality / General Admission. (Manly Seven to play Royal Adelaide shotgun @ 7am.)

Stay: Stamford Glenelg.

Saturday

Midday: Hospitality at Races at Morphettville / golf at Public track TBA.

6pm: Bus to Links Lady Bay.

Stay: Links Lady Bay.

Sunday

8am: Golf at Links Lady Bay.

2pm: Long Lunch McLaren Vale.

Stay: Links Lady Bay

Monday

Midday: Bus to Airport – and Glenelg GC for those kicking on.

To back up and explain:

As per the correspondence with LIV Golf ticketing, I said on Nov 29 that our requirements were: 28 people in hospitality, 10 in General Admission, for two days each, and was advised to wait until mid-Jan for a “package” (I assumed a quote for 28 people in hospitality, 10 General Admission).

I approached them Jan 9, they said hold off until end-Jan.

They’ve since sold out the General Admission on Saturday and Sunday, and tell me hospitality tickets aren’t allowed for re-sale.

Where we’re at:

My man in Ticketing, who advised the above, said a resolution may be “Private Chalets”, the details / cost of which is in the post. Sounds like Club 54 – ie food n booze – but just our crew. I assume as expensive as Club 54. But if we go with Morphettville Races, estimate total tariff about the same.

I’m sorry I don’t have a number. They tell me “early Feb”.

I’m sorry I don’t have an outcome for those wanting to see the Event Saturday and Sunday.

To say I’m royally pissed off is an understatement. I’ve sold you a pup.

I do apologise. I’m really annoyed. And if anyone wants to brush it, Refunds are open.

You are also welcome to do your own thing re: LIV Golf Hospitality – ie put yourself on waiting lists, etc.

Going forward

Options are.

Friday Club – There are General Admission tickets available on the Friday. FYI Manly Seven (7) and Mick Hodgett and Joe O’Sullivan. My advice: once we’ve decided on this course of action, buy them online yourself. I’ll let you know when to pull the trigger.

Gallery Club – If you want to get on the list for Gallery Club, you’ll need to go here and pay $75 as an EOI. It’ll be refundable. Let me know if you’d go down this angle.

Private Chalet. My man in Ticketing says details of a “package” should be available early Feb. The Private Chalet option sounds effectively like Club 54 but just for our crew. They hold up to 25 people. Food, booze, waiters. What they’re worth per head, they can’t tell us yet.

Morphettville Races. We’ll get some value from an afternoon in a Private Box at Morphettville.

Saturday golf. – If you’d play golf on the Saturday, there’s a public track at North Adelaide.

Wait it Out. My man in ticketing said they are likely to have More Demand than Supply. And he said, as follows, there is the option to up Supply by providing more Inventory. Don’t know if that means more General Admission, Hospitality, Private Chalets, what. Some chance LIV’s Marketing Dept has put up the Sold Out signs for Marketing purposes. Some chance they will later put up the Due To Popular Demand We’ve Allotted More Tickets sign. But I don’t know – and they are not telling.

Again – I’m sorry about this.

Again – all is not lost. With a bit of a re-jig there is still a fine time to be had in Radelaide.

Again – if you wish to go your own way and see two rounds on the Saturday and Sunday in whatever ticket you can muster, feel free.

Just FYI, follows is the correspondence I’ve had with LIV Golf’s guy.

Have a think for a day or two. And we can poll your thoughts on the WhatsApp. Any questions, get in touch publicly or privately.

Sorry again. Stressed me a bit.

Cheers.

Hi Matt,

I understand you have interested clients as the demand has been extremely high. We are more than likely going to have more demand than supply.

To set expectations, very unlikely we’ll have options to share this upcoming week.

More info to come once we have it.

Hi Troy.

Thankyou for your reply re: LIV ticketing / hospitality options.

As previously discussed, I have 38 clients that need tickets for Saturday and Sunday at Adelaide.

I believed from our earlier emails it was a matter of waiting until the group ticket packages were organised.

The Private Chalet option may be a suitable resolution.

Can you please provide a quote for a Private Chalet for Saturday and Sunday.

I would like to receive it this week as I have 38 clients who are asking for an update and for it to be finalised so they can book travel.

Look forward to receiving your reply.

Kind regards, Matt

Hi Matt,

Quick heads up on hospitality. Our demand is extremely high and per our ticket policies we do not allow ticket reselling.

With that being said, I’ll try to assist you, but I may only be able to accommodate if you had interest in a private chalet, which would accommodate approx. 20-25 people per day.

My hope is we’ll have our packages sorted out first week of February.

Thank you,

Troy Tutt

Hi Matt,

Demand is at an all-time high. We also plan to potentially introduce additional inventory, so best thing to do at this point is to hold tight until we have those products introduced and then see what’s best for you and your guests.

No guarantees…but looking at end of January to have info for you and our fans.

Best,

Hi Matt,

Our hospitality packages have not been finalized. Based on what we know now, your best bet to accommodate a group of that size is to secure a private chalet/skybox. That information will be coming out soon.

Confirming you have placed a deposit for hospitality tickets?

Thanks,

Troy Tutt

Hi Troy, hi Dominique.

Hope you’re very well.

Note that there’s an estimate of tariff for Hospitality at Adelaide (and other places) on the LIV Golf website.

Are we able to talk about a package for the Crew of 25 that I have interested in Hospitality for Adelaide?

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the note and hope you are well. Great to hear of the interest.

Due to the current high demand, we unfortunately can’t guarantee that number of hospitality tickets right now.

We hope to have a lot more clarity in January, and happy to discuss at that time.

Thanks,

Hi Troy and Dominique.

Hope you’re well.

Sorry to bug you – I know you likely don’t have your pricing finalised for LIV Adelaide.

But I have 16 pax who’d like Club 54 on the Saturday and Sunday.

And 11 pax who’d like Grounds Passes Saturday and Sunday.

Can you tell me please:

– Can I get a guarantee I can get them all in to where they’d like to be?

– If Club 54 not available, can we get them into Gallery Club?

– And are you able to do a package for that number of pax, and different types of hospitality / General Admission?

Cheers, Matt

Hi Troy, hi Dominique.

As per Jane’s intro, I’m a sports writer from Sydney and also have a business in golf tours. Website is MCGTours.com. We’ve been going since 2015.

Pre-Covid we were running 3-5 tours a year, in Australia and overseas (Ireland, Scotland, China, Thailand).

Since restrictions have eased we’ve run three local trips and one international (to Vietnam). And we’re planning a big 2023.

We often position the tours around sports events. Horse racing, cricket, rugby matches. We usally include hospitality such as this at Royal Randwick race course.

Our clients are 95 per cent men aged 40-65, retired or semi-retired, members of golf clubs.

A typical trip would be 30 clients. Most we’ve had on a single tour is 63. I just sent a crew of 12 to Vietnam.

Re: LIV Adelaide – we’ll definitely have at least 30 clients. It could be up to 50.

Approximately 80 per cent are keen on Club 54, the rest on Gallery Club, with a small number opting for General Admission.

This is the LIV Adelaide Tour website.

This is me talking LIV Golf on national radio.

Any more info you need, fire away.

Hi Troy, hi Dominique.

Nice to e-meet you.

And thanks for the heads up.

Can you tell me what the costs were for Miami?

I have dozens of clients after a quote. And I have a rough idea of popular hospitality costs, and what people will pay, based on horse racing which is popular hereabouts.

But if you could supply the BBC Miami numbers, I can take something to these guys and sound like I know what I’m talking about!

Also – do you work with Tour Operators / Agents and offer a bulk / gross rate?

Finally – do you have a date in mind when prices will be finalised / released?

No biggy if no.

Thanks again!

Getting approaches from travel agents about bringing over groups.

Got a name and number for someone I can bug about it?

Hope all well.
