CAPE WICKHAM AND THE KING ISLAND CUP

January 27-30, 2023

Three nights, three rounds, two dinners and a day at the races – MCG Tours’ trip to King island will be a beauty.

We’ll play their two gems – Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes (Wickham twice because it’s awesome) – and enjoy an afternoon of hospitality at the King Island Racing Carnival.

And we’ll eat at a restaurant with no food. True story.

Cape Wickham. Spectacular.
Ocean Dunes. Also spectacular.
King Island Racing Club hosts trots, too.

itinerary

Friday 27 January

On arrival at King Island Airport on the early bird named Rex we’ll be whisked to the glorious, impossibly spectacular Cape Wickham Golf Links.

After our round we’ll enjoy Welcome Dinner on site before cruising home to our digs at King Island Hotel.

Wickham. It is this stunning.

Saturday 28 January

Adventurous souls can begin the day with a scallop pie at the famous King Island Bakehouse before we take off on the 5-minute drive to Ocean Dunes, where we’ll enjoy Australia’s 4th-ranked public access golf course.

After the round we’ll change into our glad rags – loosely described as ‘picnic race-wear’ – and take the bus to the races to enjoy an afternoon’s hospitality and horses at the King Island Racing Club.

Ocean Dunes. Wickham’s beautiful, not-that-poor, indeed still quite upper crust cousin. It is this spectacular.

Sunday 29 January

After a lazy morning, we’ll head back up the road to play Cape Wickham again because it is that good.

Presentation dinner will feature oysters and crayfish at the famous and funky Currie Boathouse.

Drinks to follow at the not-as-famous but equally funky back bar of the King Island Hotel .

Still TBA but best estimate is $1300-$1500, for three rounds golf, three nights accommodation, breakfast, Welcome and Presentation dinners, a day of hospitality at the King Island races, and all transfers. Doesn’t include flights though we can help.
